Tasting Notes: The 2014 Italics Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was created from blocks of old-vine estate Cabernet Sauvignon, planted with Napa’s tried and true clones. The nose is distinctively spicy – nutmeg and clove – an homage to the sophisticated barrel program, which we continue to refine. The nose is sweet, like smelling a sugar glaze as it is drizzled on a warm spice cake. In the mouth, the texture is like a perfectly brewed cup of Assam tea – warm and just enough tannin to give the palate length and duration. This is not a heavy, chewy wine. On the contrary, it is built for lasting pleasure. Give this wine some time to open up, and possibly decant it.
